(Yicai Global) March 20 -- Swiss industrial giant ABB Group's robot plant currently under construction in Shanghai, set to be the world's biggest factory of its kind, will open as planned in 2021 despite the coronavirus outbreak, China News Service cited the president of ABB's local subsidiary as saying.

The construction site resumed operations in full swing on March 11, Li Gang told CNS, while another official at the local arm, Wang Tong, said the infrastructure is complete and that the firm is now setting up steel structures for the factory.

Zurich-based ABB broke ground on the plant and research hub in September, with total investment pegged at USD150 million. It will cover 67,000 square meters and house robots that build other robots. The research hub will focus on innovation in artificial intelligence.
