Alibaba-Backed Maternity Site Baby Tree Closes up on First Trading Day

(Yicai Global) Nov. 27 -- In its first day trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, China's largest online pregnancy and parenting portal Baby Tree Group [HK:1761] closed up 1.03 percent over its HKD6.80 (USD0.869) listing price at HKD6.87.

In a rollercoaster ride, Beijing-based Baby Tree's shares traded at HKD6.58 (USD0.841) at 2.15 p.m., 3.24 percent lower than its HKD6.80 offering price, after edging 0.7 percent over it in the morning session. 

The exercised offering price of 6.8 HKD was also the bottom of the indicative issuing price range of HKD6.8 to HKD8.8 in its initial public offering application. 

The Taobao e-commerce arm of Alibaba Group Holding and Tal Education Group [ NYSE:TAL ] hold 9.9 percent and 8.66 percent of company shares, respectively, placing them third and fourth among major shareholders.
