Alibaba Unveils Its Self-Developed Express Delivery Robot Alibaba Unveils Its Self-Developed Express Delivery Robot

(Yicai Global) Nov. 17 -- Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. [NYSE:BABA] unveiled its self-developed delivery robot, which is capable of autonomous driving and picking up delivery parcels via remote phone operations, mydrivers.com reported yesterday. Alibaba's move follows JD.Com, Inc. [NASDAQ:JD], which introduced its express delivery robot earlier.

The robot, developed by Alibaba's logistics and distribution platform Cainiao Smart Logistics Network (Hong Kong) Ltd., displayed its skills in Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province. It can load about 20 parcels at a time, just like a small mobile crane.

The robot can analyze students' consumption and activity trends through Big Data mining, sending student parcels to university collection points ahead of time thanks to autonomous driving capacity.

Students can also interact with the robot in real time via their phones, and the robot can record their demands to ensure timely delivery. The robot has yet to complete its testing stage.
