Chinese Car Rental Site Says Driving License Translations Are Legit After Spanish Police Step In Chinese Car Rental Site Says Driving License Translations Are Legit After Spanish Police Step In

(Yicai Global) March 22 -- The operator of Zuzuche, China's largest outbound online car rental platform, has refuted claims that its service that interprets Chinese driver's licenses to be eligible in foreign countries, including Spain, is illegal.

The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has certified Lizhi Network Technology's translators and the company has confirmed the legality of its interpretation with the Spanish traffic authorities, Beijing Business Today reported, citing the Guangzhou-based firm.

The Spanish police told one of Zuzuche's customers that the translation that the driver got from the platform is invalid, after which they towed away the vehicle.

The police on duty misjudged this specific case, according to Lizhi.

Chinese citizens are unable to apply for international driving licenses as the country has not signed up to the United Nations' Convention on Road Traffic. In order to drive overseas, residents from the country have to apply for a translated notarized copy for their Chinese driving licenses, which can be a complicated procedure. To make the situation more straightforward, Zuzuche rolled out its translated certificate for international driving licenses in 2015, which can all be done online.

The European country's government has not given a statement about the case yet, according to the news report.

Founded in 2011, Zuzuche has served over 20 million Chinese tourists with its nearly 170,000 stores in more than 200 countries and regions around the world.
