(Yicai Global) June 3 -- Boeing has contacted 737 operators advising them to check the slat track assemblies on certain of their airplanes' wings.
Working with the US Federal Aviation Administration, Boeing said in a statement yesterday that one batch of leading-edge slat tracks with specific lot numbers produced by one supplier was found to have potential issues of non-conformity. If operators find these parts, they are to replace them with new ones before returning an airplane to service, the company advised.
Slat tracks change position to alter the lift and drag characteristics of a plane's wing during takeoff and landing.
The Chicago-based aviation behemoth has also identified 20 737 MAX aircraft that are most likely to have the defective parts.
