(Yicai Global) Oct. 22 -- Malaysia Airlines flight MH387 to Kuala Lumpur, which was set to leave at 1.30 a.m. yesterday, was called off after a tire blew out in the left landing gear as the airplane was taxiing for take-off at Shanghai's Pudong International Airport. Passengers disembarked without injury.
The initial understanding is the anti-lag brake system got stuck, causing a puncture, China Aviation Daily reported.
Photos taken on the scene show crews spraying foam to prevent a fire. The airliner was then towed off the runway with a temporary tire.
Another of the carrier's flights will airlift in a replacement. The plane's fuselage sustained damage in many places from fragments of the exploded tire, which also closed a runway.
