(Yicai Global) Oct. 24 -- A consortium led by China Aluminum International Engineering has won a CNY5.3 billion (USD745.3 million) contract to construct an aluminum smelter in Indonesia.

PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia informed the consortium that Chalieco formed with PT PP Persero Tbk about winning the engineering, procurement, and construction contract, the Beijing-based construction engineering firm said in a statement yesterday.

The project will have an annual output of 1 million tons of metallurgical grade alumina. The contract amount will be paid in two parts of USD369.9 million and IDR5.25 trillion (USD374.6 million), the firm said, without disclosing the division between partners nor the schedule.

Chalieco will be in charge of the design of the project, procurement of major equipment, debugging, and ensuring the expected output. The Jakarta-based property firm will install the equipment and do some of the construction work.
