(Yicai Global) Nov. 30 -- An increasing number of students from Indonesia have chosen to study overseas in China as the Chinese economy has developed in recent years.

The educational and cultural exchange between the two countries has become vibrant. China has become the second largest destination for Indonesian college students to study abroad, China News Service quoted the head of the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) as saying.

This year's Study in China education expo in Djakarta attracted nearly 30 universities from China who introduced Chinese college education to Indonesian students.

The Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange organized the event, which began on Nov. 26. Some 27 renowned universities from mainland China and Macau including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Normal University, Wuhan University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Jilin University, University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, and City University of Macau attended. Many of them provide scholarships for Indonesian students.

Founded in 2003, the Study in China expo has attracted over 50,000 visitors in aggregate. More than 14,000 Indonesian students are involved in academic pursuits in China.
