(Yicai Global) Oct. 11 -- BYD, a Chinese new energy vehicle giant which has launched models in Europe, is making great strides in bringing its cars onto the streets of Mexico and Malaysia.

The automaker recently revealed two partnerships with local players in North America and Southeast Asia to widen its influence abroad.

BYD's unit recently delivered five Q3MA-branded electric semi trucks to Transportes Marva, a large Mexican transportation company, in Puebla, the Shenzhen-headquartered firm said in a statement on its WeChat yesterday. BYD will ship 120 vehicles to Marva by December.

Moreover, the electric vehicle maker will cooperate with car dealership Sime Darby Auto to develop the Malaysian market, the Chinese firm said in another statement. Sime Darby is an agent for more than 40 car brands with its business covering nine markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

On Sept. 28, the Chinese company penned a cooperation agreement with Sime Darby Auto Imports and Sime Darby Auto Britannia to import passenger vehicles while improving BYD’s brand influence and promoting electric vehicles in Malaysia.
