(Yicai Global) June 18 -- Chengdu's Dongfang Electric Machinery has completed all the key parts of a hydropower turbine with the world's largest capacity.
China Three Gorges, the project owner, has accepted the last 870-ton part of the equipment, a mechanism that guides the water to the central part of the turbine, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The million-kilowatt turbine will be used in the Baihetan Dam, the second-largest one in China, located on the Jinsha River in southwestern China. The dam will install a capacity of 16 million kW and it will be put into operation at the end of 2022.
