(Yicai Global) March 11 -- Some 4,264, or 79 percent, of China's designated companies for emergency grain processing had re-opened for work as of March 7, the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration said online today.

They have the combined capacity to process 442,000 tons of wheat and 454,000 tons of rice each day, according to the administration.

China has 5,388 medium-sized and large grain and oil enterprises with a special designation to supply foods in emergencies. They have faster transport networks and better facilities for production and sales than their counterparts and smaller competitors.
