(Yicai Global) April 9 --  China's mainland stock markets were mostly trading sideways in the  morning session, as investors weighed on which direction the trend will  turn.

Trading was listless in  the morning session as major indexes repeatedly edged up and slid until  the last trading hour pushed the benchmarks into the expansion  territory. Trading volume was relatively light.

The Shanghai Composite  Index advanced 0.14 percent to 3,249.20 points by lunch. The Shenzhen  Component Index rose 0.74 percent to 10,428.19 points. The ChiNext  Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, climbed 0.67 percent  to 1,751.34 points.

The Chinese stock market  has been on a roll this year, as the government has promoted more  stimulus to buoy slowing economic growth as well as promised widening  access to foreign investors.
