(Yicai Global) Feb. 24 -- China's output of N95-grade face masks and medical protective clothing has soared recently, the National Development and Reform Commission said today.
Companies in the country were making 919,000 N95 masks a day as of Feb. 22, nearly nine times as many as on Feb. 1, the NDRC said. Firms have dispatched 3.3 million medical masks between the two days, 2.7 million of which have gone to Wuhan to help over 60,000 medical staff working on the frontlines against COVID-19.
N95 masks are those that can filter over 95 percent of fine particulate matter with a diameter of 75 nanometers or more. The pathogens for the novel coronavirus COVID-19 are about 100 meters in diameter.
Manufacturers are also producing over 200,000 sets of medical suits a day and have sent over 2 million to Hubei province, where Wuhan is located.
