(Yicai Global) Aug. 18 -- China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the country's top macro-economic planner, approved three infrastructure projects, including two airport projects and a railway construction plan with a total investment of CNY79.3 million (USD11.8 million).

The three projects are Urumqi airport expansion project in China's western Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, a new scheme for the construction of Yulin civil airport in the country's southwestern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and a new plan for the construction of some sections of railway from Shanghai to Nantong, Jiangsu province in eastern China, reported China Securities Network yesterday.

Urumqi airport expansion project plans to have a total investment of CNY41.05 billion (USD6.15 billion), including airport construction cost of CNY38.9 billion. The project will be funded by central government, Civil Aviation Administration of China, Xinjiang local government and Xinjiang Airport Group Co.

Urumqi airport expansion project is scheduled to be completed in 2030. By then, it will have an annual passenger throughput of 63 million passengers, and annual cargo throughput of 750,000 tons.

Yulin civil airport project plans to have a total investment of CNY1.48 billion. Central government and China Civil Aviation Development Fund will contribute CNY291 million and CNY590 million of the funds, respectively. The remaining funds will be raised by Guangxi local government and Yulin municipal government. Upon completion of the project, it will have an annual passenger throughput of 740,000 passengers, and annual cargo throughput of 5,000 tons.

A new project for some sections of railway from Shanghai to Nantong will have a total investment of CNY36.82 billion including CNY36.67 billion for the construction cost, and CNY150 million for the purchase of electric multiple units (EMU). The section of the railway line is 111.8 kilometers long with 6 stations, which is expected to be completed in five years.
