(Yicai Global) April 2 -- A joint venture between China's BAIC Motor and Germany's Daimler has chosen Chinese car bearings maker Nrb to provide its products to Beijing Benz Automotive's revamped motors.
Nrb has received a notice from Beijing Benz to become a supplier of sliding bearings for the M254 engine technical upgrading project, the Changzhou-based firm said in a statement.
Achieving the qualification is an important milestone for Nrb in terms of its expansion into the high-end car market, the supplier said, adding that it still needs to finish product development.
Beijing Benz's M254 project will produce 280,000 four-cylinder gasoline engines each year with the total investment of about CNY2.1 billion (USD310 million), public data show.
Parties under Daimler and BAIC Motor founded Beijing Benz in 2005, and the Chinese parent holds a 51 percent stake in the JV.
