(Yicai Global) Oct. 26 -- Chinese PVC additives firm Ruifeng Chemical will start producing MBS resin to satisfy the growing demand of the environmentally friendly material.

Ruifeng Chemical will invest CNY120 million (USD17.1 million) to create a production line of poly(styrene-co-butadiene-co-methyl) at its existing plant in its hometown Zibo, the Shandong province-based firm said in a statement yesterday.

The factory will have an output of 20,000 tons of MBS resin per year after operations begin in October 2019. The goal is to increase that to 40,000 tons later, which will make the plant the most powerful maker of the modifying agent in China, according to the company.

The product, which is used to modify polymers' impact resistance, will improve the firm's production efficiency, as well as reduce ecological footprint and reliance on imports.
