China Sets Up Graphene Fiber Industrial Applications Association in Shanghai China Sets Up Graphene Fiber Industrial Applications Association in Shanghai

(Yicai Global) Oct. 12 -- Chinese material technology company Jinan Shengquan Group was the main sponsor for the establishment of a national graphene fiber industrial applications association in Shanghai that will promote apparel industry applications.

More than 80 members including Shanghai Donghua University, Beijing University of Fashion Technology and CR Textiles Inc. attended the founding ceremony yesterday, Xinmin Evening News reported.Tang Yilin, chairman of Shengquan Group, became the association's president.

Shengquan Group and several other Chinese firms have successfully developed graphene fiber products, Tang said. The association will be dedicated to promoting graphene material applications in the apparel sector, protecting related intellectual property rights and introducing industry standards, said Tang.

Adding graphene fiber to textiles can enhance the antistatic performance and ultraviolet and infrared resistance of clothing. The new material will bring major changes to the garment industry and reshape people's lifestyles, opined China Chemical Fibers Association Chairman Duan Xiaoping.

China has come to the forefront of global graphene technology development. However, individual companies and research institutes lack the influence to push forward graphene industry advancement, so the establishment of the national association will have far-reaching implications for the market, Duan said.
