(Yicai Global) Dec. 25 -- China’s mainland stock markets closed higher today although liquor producers like Kweichow Moutai slumped and seed suppliers led the losses.

The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.99 percent to 3,396.56 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.73 percent to 4,017.06. The ChiNext, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, was up 0.71 percent to 2,840.80 points.

Shares of companies engaged in cobalt, non-ferrous metal and rare earth metal were the biggest winners. Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt [SHA: 603799], which deals in new energy Liion battery materials and new cobalt materials, soared by 10 percent to a one-year high to CNY75.79 (USD11.62) while Nanjing Hanrui Cobalt [SHE: 300618] surged 19.38 percent to close at CNY90.48.
