(Yicai Global) May 21 -- China's stock market rose all day long after a mixed opening, while stocks related to nonferrous metals and rare earth led the gains.
The Shanghai Composite Index closed 1.23 percent higher at 2,905.97 with a turnover of CNY202.8 billion (USD29.4 billion). The Shenzhen Component Index soared 1.92 percent to 9,087.52 with a trading volume of CNY276.7 billion. The ChiNext Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, closed 1.66 percent higher at 1,493.72 with a turnover of CNY80.9 billion.
China Northern Rare Earth Group High-Tech [SHA:600111], China Minmetals Rare Earth [SHE:000831], Rising Nonferrous Metals Share [SHA:600259], China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction [SHE:000758], soared 10% higher, the daily upper limit, during the afternoon's trade.
