China's Stock Markets Close Higher, Gain for the Week

(Yicai Global) Jan. 18 -- China's Stock Markets all closed over 1.4 percent higher, with Shanghai nudging the 2,600-point mark.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed up 1.42 percent at 2,596.01 points, with a volume of CNY151.3 billion (USD22.38 billion) moved. The Shenzhen Component Index stopped 1.49 percent higher at 7,581.39 points after flipping CNY175.4 billion. Trading on both bourses' main boards has greatly increased.

The ChiNext Index, China's Nasdaq-style board of growth companies, closed 1.45 percent higher at 1,269.50 points at the finish with CNY47.9 billion swapped. Trade volume shrank slightly as against yesterday.
