(Yicai Global) Feb. 5 -- Chinese stock markets finished higher today as investor confidence in the eventual containment of the novel coronavirus epidemic grew, but indexes fell off from their morning apexes as profit-taking reaped the rewards of the morning rise.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,818.09, up 1.25 percent. It climbed as high as 2.13 percent in a.m. trading, while the Shenzhen Component Index ended at 10,305.5, up 2.14 percent, but short of the morning's 3.51 percent peak.

The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, fell back to a 3.02 percent increase at 1,939.62, after going up to 4.43 percent.
