China's Stock Markets Closed Higher on Surging Tech Shares

(Yicai Global) Sept. 9 -- Chinese stock markets ended the day higher with the Shenzhen bourse outperforming Shanghai due to soaring technology shares after the nation's central bank said it will cut the reserve requirement ratio.

The Shanghai Composite Index finished 0.84 percent higher at 3,024.74. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 1.82 percent to 10,001.93. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, closed 2.42 percent higher at 1,733.23.

Technology shares gained 5 percent for the day.

The People's Bank of China announced on Sept. 6 that it plans to cut the RRR for financial institutions by 50 basis points on Sept. 16 in an effort to bolster the economy.
