(Yicai Global) Sep. 9 -- China's mainland stock markets went into the lunch break higher this morning, with the Shenzhen bourse outperforming Shanghai after the nation's central bank cut the reserve requirement ratio at the end of last week.

The Shanghai Composite Index finished the morning 0.36 percent higher at 3,010.51. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 1.01 percent to 9,922.81, and the ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, closed 1.02 percent higher at 1,709.43.

The People's Bank of China announced on Sept. 6 that it planned to cut the RRR for financial institutions by 50 basis points on Sept. 16 in an effort to bolster the economy.
