(Yicai Global) Nov. 1 -- China's stock markets gained ground in early trading on Wednesday after a flat opening, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edging above 3,400 points once again.
The semiconductor and metals sectors were among the leaders in early trading.
At 10:00 am, the Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.42 percent at 3,407.60 points after rising 0.02 percent at the opening.
The Shenzhen Component Index was up 0.41 percent to 11,414.72 points after opening 0.03 percent higher.
The Growth Enterprise Index, mostly comprising small-cap companies, increased 0.30 percent to 1,875.46 points after a 0.10 percent decline at the opening.
