(Yicai Global) Jan. 15 -- The opening of China's stock markets showed a mixed bag this morning. Securities climbed 0.5 percent to spearhead gains at the starting gun,  but coal mining, which failed to shore up yesterday's gains, caved in almost 2 percent.

The Shanghai Composite Index started off up 0.06 percent at 2,537.37 points. The Shenzhen Component Index began at 7,403.79 points, down from yesterday's close. The Growth Enterprise Index, also in Shenzhen, opened 0.17 percent lower at 1,243.93 points.
