China's Sugon Develops World's Most Cost-Effective Server With Fastest Big Data Query Capacity China's Sugon Develops World's Most Cost-Effective Server With Fastest Big Data Query Capacity

(Yicai Global) March 14 -- China's Dawning Information Industry Co., a high-performance computer manufacturer also known as Sugon, has successfully developed the most cost-effective server with fastest query of Big Data in the world, the company said.

Nearly a month-long rigorous review carried out by Transaction Processing Performance Council, TPC, the international consortium that sets standards to promote fast and efficient application of database transactions, confirmed that Sugon's I620-G30 server, with a capacity of over 30 TB, is capable of completing 3,383.95 queries of Big Data per minute, each of which costs USD307.86. Both data have shattered the world records, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported today.

The server blends with application scenarios of Big Data, doubles the query speed of its predecessors, and nearly halves the query cost, said Qin Xiaoning, vice president of Dawning. The unrivaled performance of I620-G30 in the TPC test marks that the servers developed by the company hit a new level in terms of product maturity and international standardization, Qin added.

Founded with support from the institute of computing technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sugon has held a leading position in China's high-performance computer market for many years. Notably, the Nebulae supercomputer developed by the company took the second spot in the global rankings in 2010.
