(Yicai Global) Jan. 28 -- China is making it easier to import medicines and medical supplies needed to combat the novel coronavirus, which has claimed 106 lives so far and has some parts of the country in lockdown.

Green lanes have been set up at local customs areas to help speed up inspection and release of drugs, disinfection and protective items, treatment equipment and other disease prevention and control products brought into the country, according to statements issued by the General Administration of Customs yesterday.

In emergency situations, goods may be released after registration followed by appropriate formalities. Medical supplies for the purpose of disease prevention and control,  which require drug import permits, may be released by Customs if there is a certificate issued by the competent medical authority, followed by appropriate formalities.

All inbound and outbound travelers must declare their state of health to quarantine officers at China Customs and cooperate with temperature screening, medical examination and observation, as well as other public health measures.
