China's Tax Administration to Roll Out Nationwide E-Bureau This Year China's Tax Administration to Roll Out Nationwide E-Bureau This Year

(Yicai Global) Jan. 19 -- China hopes to make life more convenient for its taxpayers by introducing an electronic bureau to handle nationwide tax matters this year.

The country will set up the department by the end of October, China News Service reported, citing the State Administration of Taxation as saying at the National Tax Conference in Beijing.

The tax administration will accelerate the implantation of online tax services and strive to achieve an 85-percent penetration rate by the end of 2018, it added. China's residents can conduct about 90 percent of tax-related matters online already, but through local government portals.

China has worked hard to devise a modern tax structure and cut the length of time it takes to comply with regulations by 75 percent to 207 hours between 2004 and 2016, PricewaterhouseCoopers said in its Paying Taxes 2018 report. The World Bank also lifted China 32 places in its rankings of countries by tax time last year.
