(Yicai Global) Sept. 20 -- China Telecom Corp. [HK:0728; NYSE:CHA] is promoting 5G tests and introducing innovative demonstration projects in Lanzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Xiong'an, Suzhou and Shanghai with six to eight stations in each.
China Telecom is advocating the construction of a new network as well as research and development of key technologies and verification of 5G technologies as the initiator and core backer of China IMT-2020(5G), C114.com quoted Shen Shaoai, deputy manager of the company's technology department, as saying today at 2017 Wireless China Industry Summit.
The company is advancing the standardization of 5G technology and the completion of technical programs while formulating specifications for groups and providing technical guidance for the introduction of China's 5G mobile network to support its development, Shen said.
China's 5G network is set to enter large-scale commercial use by 2020.
China Telecom jointly developed 5G innovative demonstration application with partners in vertical industries and provided them with 5G solutions. China Telecom has built the 5G Joint Innovation Platform to research and move forward several aspects such as business, technology and network deployment to establish a 5G ecological chain by cooperating with others via the platform. China Telecom has already established the world's largest NB-IoT (Narrow Band Internet of Things) network and continues its development of IoT applications.
