(Yicai Global) Oct. 9 -- China has solidified its lead in the speed logistics business as its people have sent the biggest number of such deliveries for the fourth consecutive year. The country makes up more than half of the growth in the field on a global scale, a director of the government mail agency says.

China's postal business revenues rose 23 percent to reach CNY662.3 billion (USD95.6 billion) last year, state-backed Xinhua News Agency reported today Ma Junsheng from the State Post Bureau as saying. The country made up more than 45 percent of the volume of express courier packages in the world with its 40 billion items sent, Ma added, citing in-house data.

Seven Chinese logistics companies which have restructured to offer more services related to e-commerce platforms which bagged annual sales of over CNY5 trillion (USD722 billion). The courier firms employed over 200,000 staff members. 

Ma also spoke for improving the service by striking a better balance between urban and rural areas and developing new supply chain solutions domestically and internationally, such as crowdsourcing delivery and creating intelligent terminals.
