(Yicai Global) July 13 -- Chinese online travel agency Trip.Com Group is looking to issue up to USD500 million worth of convertible senior notes to non-US citizens to replenish its coffers.

Trip.Com would in part use the proceeds to repay debts, the Shanghai-based firm said in a statement today. The notes, which mature in 2027, could be exchanged for cash, or shares of hotel operator Huazhu Group, in which the travel agency had a nearly 8 percent stake by the end of last year.

The flight and hotel bookings company's stock price [Nasdaq: TCOM] fell 0.4 percent to USD26.80 in New York yesterday. Huazhu's equity price [NASDAQ: HTHT] was 2.2 percent down at USD36.55.
