China Will Further Open Bond Market, PBOC Deputy Says China Will Further Open Bond Market, PBOC Deputy Says

(Yicai Global) Aug. 12 -- The country's central bank the People's Bank of China will open the country's bond market together with other agencies and enrich its financial instruments and trading mechanisms to meet the needs of foreign investors, Pan Gongsheng, PBOC deputy governor, told the Chinese media Caixin.

These measures will include expanding the market-maker for foreign institutions, launching bond ETF index products and fully liberalizing reverse repurchase transactions.

The central bank will also improve bond market valuation services, soundly develop financial derivatives, and ameliorate the bond default mechanism.
