China’s Caifu Robot More Than Doubles Industrial Robot Payload World Record(Yicai) May 15 -- Shanghai-based Caifu Robot has set a new Guinness World Record for industrial robot payload capacity after its CR5000-3700 robot lifted over 5,000 kilograms, more than doubling the previous global record, according to a report by local media outlet The Paper today.
The achievement marks the first time a Chinese industrial robot has claimed the world record in payload capacity, highlighting advances in China’s high-end equipment manufacturing sector. The previous record of 2,300 kilograms was set in 2016 by a robot developed by Japan’s Fanuc Corporation.
Guinness World Records announced the result at a press conference in Shanghai today. Designed for extreme heavy-duty operations in industrial environments, the CR5000-3700 is intended for high-precision and high-risk tasks. The robot replaces traditional manual handling methods, cutting labor intensity by 80 percent and reducing human involvement in hazardous processes by 80 percent, while improving overall operational efficiency by more than three times, the report said.
The robot has already been commercialized and is in regular use across sectors, including rail transit, new energy vehicle manufacturing, nuclear power generation, metallurgy, chemicals, and tunnel construction.
Founded in 2011, Caifu Robot operates a 35,000-square-meter factory in Shanghai that manufactures industrial robots and related components. According to the company’s website, it has an annual production capacity of 5,000 industrial robots and 80,000 precision joint reducers.
