(Yicai) June 5 -- Dongfeng Motor has become the latest Chinese automaker to enter the Polish market, offering a broad range of traditional and electric vehicles across three marques while partnering locally to build sales, service, and marketing networks in key cities.

Dongfeng launched three models under its Dongfeng brand -- the Box, Shine, and Mage -- along with the Voyah Dream, a premium multi-purpose EV, and the MHero I, a premium electric sports utility vehicle, at a ceremony held in Warsaw on May 29, the Wuhan-based company announced yesterday.

Dongfeng Motor Industry Import and Export, the carmaker’s foreign trade subsidiary, has teamed up with Polish partners to jointly coordinate launches, build a sales network, improve after-sales services, promote brand building, and open sales outlets in major cities, such as Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw, its parent company said.

Chinese automakers have stepped up their expansion into European markets in recent years. Those that have already forayed into the Polish market include SAIC Motor’s MG and Maxus marques, BAIC Motor, Chery Automobile's Omoda and Jaecoo brands, BYD, Seres Group, and Geely Automobile Holdings’ Lynk & Co brand.

Poland is one of the most populous and economically dynamic countries in central and eastern Europe and is rapidly advancing its EV and green mobility agenda, making it a strategic location for Dongfeng in the region, the company added.

Poland's car sales rose 16 percent to a five-year high of 551,500 units last year from 2023, with the major automakers present in the market including Toyota Motor, Skoda Auto, Volkswagen, Hyundai Motor, and Kia.

Chinese car registrations in the country climbed to 11,335  from 370 in 2024, of which 9,410 were had internal combustion engines, while the rest were hybrid and pure electric vehicles.
