(Yicai Global) Sept. 5 -- Chinese bike-sharing giant Ofo, formally Beijing Bikelock Technology Co., has officially begun operations in the English capital of London, with its iconic yellow bikes now in circulation in Hackney in the northeast of the city.
The firm is charging GBP0.5 per half an hour of bicycle use, TechWeb reported. The bikes reportedly feature new-generation smart locks which ensure users can only ride them in designated geographical areas.
Ofo's expansion to London follows successful operations already running in the UK's famous university cities of Cambridge and Oxford.
The Beijing-based company has also established a team of full-time customer service staff for operations and maintenance in the local region.
