Chinese Display Glass Maker Tunghsu Releases New Series of Graphene LED 'Super Lights' Chinese Display Glass Maker Tunghsu Releases New Series of Graphene LED 'Super Lights'

(Yicai Global) Sept. 25 -- Flat panel display glass substrate maker Tunghsu Optoelectronic Technology Co. [SHE:000413], based in China's northern Hebei province, has introduced a new series of graphene LED 'super lights' at the 2017 International Graphene Innovation Conference,  financial news outlet Shanghai Securities News reported on Sept. 25.

The new product uses graphene for heat dissipation and conduction.

Their volume is 75 percent lower than traditional LED lights and they are 30 percent lighter. Power-saving capacity is 20 to 30 percent better and they provide high-performance luminescence and light distribution.

The lights also boast a smart connection function, said product developer Chen Wei. Users can integrate information devices, transmit Wi-Fi hotspots, gather environmental information, monitor road security and act as emergency alarms.

Tunghsu Optoelectronic has upgraded and reconstructed a total of 200,000 graphene LED lights in Beijing and Zhejiang and Hainan provinces, among others. The company expects to develop synergies between the product and its new-energy vehicle business, said Chen.

The company also confirmed plans to invest CNY1 billion (USD151 million) in a smart city project related to super lights in Mudanjiang city, located in northern Heilongjiang province.

It will cooperate with Guangdong-based communication device manufacturer ZTE Corp. [SHE:000063] to promote the use of super lights in the Internet of Things market.
