(Yicai Global) Oct. 23 -- Busworld International 2017 opened in Belgium's Kortrijk on Oct. 20, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Zhejiang CRRC Electric Vehicle Co., Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Higer Bus Co., BYD Co. [SHE:002594; HK:2594], Zhengzhou Yutong Group, Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co. [SHE:000868], Xiamen Golden Dragon Bus Co. and several other Chinese bus manufacturers brought their high-end models to the event.

BYD said that it received an order for 21 of its new generation of electric buses from Dutch public transport company Connexxion NV on Oct. 19, Busworld International's 'media open day.'

Higer Bus signed a purchase agreement for 100 capacitor buses with Israeli firm Dan Bus Co. on the same day. Ankai Automobile debuted its double-decker semi-open sightseeing bus at the exposition.

Monthly electric bus production in China was stable at around 5,470 units in June and July, up 63 percent annually, marking that number's first annual increase this year, data from Cvworld.cn show.

The country has become a major exporter of new energy buses. It shipped out 23,907 units in the first half, accounting for 5.3 percent of vehicle export volume, per statistics from the National Passenger Car Information Exchange Association. The export proportion reached 11.6 percent in June.
