Chinese Mainland Stocks Slumped in Morning Session

(Yicai Global) April 13 -- Stock markets on the Chinese mainland opened the week in the doldrums as investors were coy as they await the government's announcement of first-quarter economic data later this week, which are expected to be hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.33 percent at 2,787.28 at the lunch break, while the Shenzhen Component Index finished 0.45 percent weaker at 10,251.86. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, fared the worst, falling 1.24 percent to 1,925.65.
