(Yicai Global) Sept. 24 -- Chinese stock markets gained during morning trade and blockchain-related equities were particularly strong after the central bank governor mentioned China's digital currency plans.

The Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.77 percent to 2,999.91. The Shenzhen Component rose 1.08 percent to 9,886.32. The ChiNext Price Index advanced 1.27 percent to 1,705.70.

Equities related to the decentralized ledger rose 1.91 percent before lunch.

The People's Bank of China may adopt blockchain or another emerging technology for its cryptocurrency, Yi Gang said today.
