(Yicai Global) Oct. 15 -- Chinese equities closed lower as investors worried about climbing consumer prices that may prompt regulators to stop loosening the nation's monetary policy.
The Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.56 percent to 2,991.05. The Shenzhen Component Index fell 1.17 percent waker to 9,671.73. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, declined 1.1 percent to 1,660.89.
Last month, China's Consumer Price Index rose 3 percent from a previous year, according to data that the National Bureau of Statistics released today. Among a basket of products, pork prices climbed the most at nearly 79 percent, contributing a 1.65 percentage point hike to the CPI.
