(Yicai Global) Jan. 8 – China’s mainland stock markets closed lower this afternoon after a week of surging.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.17 percent lower at.3,570.11. It has still risen 2.75 percent this week. The Shenzhen Component Index declined by 0.24 percent to 14,516.12 but its gain for the week is 5.53 percent. The ChiNext, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, closed 0.37 percent down at 3,150.78, but has climbed 5.83 percent over the past five days.

This week, the two mainland bourses have maintained a combined daily trading volume exceeding CNY1 trillion (USD154.9 billion) every single day. Overseas capital inflows of CNY20 billion (USD3.1 billion) have entered the mainland via the two Hong Kong stock connect schemes today.
