(Yicai Global) March 17 -- China's mainland stock markets began the trading day upbeat even if the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 Index extended their stretches into bear market territory overnight as global investors worry about their leaders' slow response to the Covid-19 pandemic that is already subsiding in China.
The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.25 percent higher at 2,796.28. The Shenzhen Component Index climbed 0.83 percent to 10,337.92. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, started the day 1.59 percent stronger at 1,941.20.
