(Yicai Global) Dec. 5 -- The Chinese bourses came down from their trade upturn this morning, while avoiding the bigger drops that the US markets logged.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened 1.36 percent lower at 2629.83 points. The Shenzhen Component Index declined 1.62 percent to 7825.12 points overnight. The ChiNext Price Index dropped 1.41 percent to 1359.27 points at the open.

Trade jitters hit investors in the US as President Donald Trump's aides struggled to explain what exactly was agreed on between China and the US at the Group of 20 summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina, over the weekend. The summit was held from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 799.36 points, or 3.1 percent yesterday. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite lost 283.09 points, or 3.8 percent, to a final reading of 7,158.43 for the day.  Major European and Japanese bourses were also down.
