Chinese Stocks Close Mixed With Rising Small Caps Chinese Stocks Close Mixed With Rising Small Caps

(Yicai Global) Sept. 2 -- China's mainland stock markets ended the day mixed as Shanghai's major equity benchmark narrowed its losses while the two Shenzhen one's edged up amid strength in small caps.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.17 percent lower at 3,404.80. The Shenzhen Component Index was at 13,887.43, up 0.27 percent. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, rose 0.78 percent to 2,771.85.

Small caps, including those in the fields of business services, agriculture and software, performed better than larger companies. Shares of nonferrous metals, liquor and energy companies suffered losses.

One of the companies that was rallying was YTO Express Group, which hit the 10-percent daily limit-up in Shanghai and jumped over 200 percent in Hong Kong, after the delivery firm announced fresh funding from Alibaba Group Holding.
