Chinese Stocks Open Higher With Brokerages Surging on Hopes of Faster Trading

(Yicai Global) June 1 -- China's three major mainland stock indexes climbed higher this morning while brokerages rose more than 3 percent after Shanghai's bourse revealed that settling transactions may become quicker.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.69 percent up at 2,871.96. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.85 percent to 10,837.49. The ChiNext Price Index, which that tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, gained 0.89 percent to 2,105.24.

China's mainland authorities are studying reforming the market maker mechanism and shortening the tradesettlement cycleto T+0, meaning that trades could be settled during the same day, the Shanghai Stock Exchange said on its website.
