(Yicai Global) Jan. 11 -- China's mainland stock markets fell back into negative territory by the lunch break after three major equity benchmarks touched their multi-year highs early in the morning.

The Shanghai Composite Index slid 0.23 percent to 3,561.77 by noon. Before that, it had reached 3,597.70, its highest point since December 2015.

The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 0.43 percent to 15,232.27. Its intraday high of 15,420.68 is the strongest level the index has had since June 2015.

Shenzhen's ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises, settled at 3,118.23, down 1.03 percent. It had earlier touched 3,159.59, the highest level since June 2015.

Shanghai's Star Market Board 50 Index gained 1.05 percent to 1,393.15 by the lunch break, much lower than its all-time high of 1,726.19 logged in July 2020.
