(Yicai Global) Sept. 30 -- Due to stricter regulations on extra-curricular education in China, tutoring firms have been trying to transform their businesses. Kanyun Holding Group, the parent company of online educator Yuanfudao, set up a mother and childcare venture, which has since attracted attention on social media.

The new Beijing-based company, Yuanman Maternal-Nursing, was established last December. It has three centers in the capital, and charges CNY138,800 to CNY258,800 (USD19,490 to USD36,350) for a 28-day package, more more than the going market price.

In addition to these centers, Kanyun also has invested in clothing and coffee ventures. Last September, it established Beijing-based Bingyuan Clothing, and Yuanfudao began selling down coats. Yuanfudao said at the time that its main focus was still education, and the apparel firm it invested in operated independently.

Since then, Yuanfudao has also moved into the coffee business. In September, a cafe called Grid Coffee opened in Beijing. Its operator, Single Origin Coffee, was formed last December and is wholly owned by Kanyun, with most of its executives drawn from Yuanfudao.
