[CIIE] China’s Luxury Market Booms; L’Oréal Takes Local PDRN Patent Global, CEO Says(Yicai) Nov. 10 -- The Chinese market not only logged positive growth in the third quarter, but has accelerated, especially in the luxury segment, the chief executive officer of L’Oréal Group said at the 8th China International Import Expo. He added that the French cosmetics giant is also leveraging innovations developed in China in its flagship products.
The exclusive Polydeoxyribonucleotide, or PDRN, technology used in L’Oréal Paris’ Revitalift Filler Serum was developed in China and will now be launched worldwide, said Nicolas Hieronimus.
“Increasingly, we are fostering innovation here in China. With labs, studios, and partners from Chinese biotech firms to other tech companies within the local ecosystem. They've developed great products, many of which have the potential to inspire the world,” Hieronimus told Yicai and other media outlets.
At the expo, Hieronimus also unveiled Longevity Integrative Science™, a skin longevity research initiative led by the company’s China laboratories. “Many of us may live past 100 years. With longer lives, it becomes essential to ensure we live better. L'Oréal's research focuses on linking the external signs of aging in the skin and hair with what happens internally at the molecular and cellular levels. By accurately identifying the hallmarks of skin aging, we hope to eventually intercept, reset, adjust, and even reverse the aging process.”

As one of the few exhibitors to have attended every CIIE since its inception, Clichy-based L’Oréal has already signed up for the ninth CIIE next year. Vincent Boinay, president of L’Oréal North Asia Zone and CEO of L’Oréal China, said, “L'Oréal is committed to 'in China, for China,' and also for the world.”
