CNOOC-Backed BD Gas Field in Indonesia Starts Production CNOOC-Backed BD Gas Field in Indonesia Starts Production

(Yicai Global) Aug. 1 -- China National Offshore Oil Corp. [HK:0883], one of China's largest oil producers, said the BD gas field in Indonesia that it invested in has commenced production. The gas field is expected to reach its peak production of about 25,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day next year.

The BD gas field is in the Madura Strait at a water depth of about 55 meters. Its natural gas and condensate sales production is around 7,200 barrels of oil equivalent a day in the initial production phase. Husky-CNOOC Madura Ltd. (HCML) is the operator of the production sharing contract for the BD gas field. CNOOC and Husky Energy Inc. each hold a 40-percent stake in HCML, while Samudra Energy owns 20 percent.
