(Yicai Global) Dec. 13 -- A consortium of China Communications Construction and China Railway 20 Bureau Group bid on Brazil's Salvador-Itaparica Transoceanic Bridge project on Dec. 13, Xinhua News Agency Reported.

The span will connect the city of Salvador in Brazil's eastern Bahia state with the resort island of Itaparica. The project, which will entail building a 12.4-kilometer bridge span over the sea and a 31-kilometer system of onshore roads, will have overall investment of USD2.2 billion, per the report.

This bridge is Brazil's largest infrastructure construction project in recent years, said Rui Costa, the governor of Bahia.
